ICE Europe 2017 Preview What to see and where to go...
MEECH INTERNATIONAL HALL A6 STAND 233 Meech International will be demonstrating its range of Hyperion ionising bars, as well as its comprehensive array of web cleaning technologies. Ralph Simon, area manager, explains that Meech has its
eye on the future and that ICE Europe represents an ideal opportunity to discuss some of the latest trends that are shaping the converting industry. “One of the areas we’re looking into is Industry 4.0, and more specifically interoperability. The ability to have machines, devices and operators that connect and communicate with one another via the web is extremely valuable. We recognise the opportunities this brings and we are currently exploring the ways this technology can be harnessed for static control systems.” Visitors will be invited to view first-hand the complete range of Hyperion static control systems, which
comprises the 971IPS, 924IPS and 929IPS pulsed DC ionising bars. The Hyperion range provides static elimination, with the bars’ default settings allowing quick and easy installation on converting lines. Also on display at the show will be Meech’s complete range of web cleaning systems. The TakClean is
a contact web cleaner featuring specifically formulated TransTak elastomer contact cleaning rollers and perforated adhesive rolls. The CyClean is a compact non-contact system, with an optimised cleaning efficiency that allows the removal of contamination to below one micron, on virtually any substrate.
BOBST HALL A5 STAND 1166 As a dedicated converting event, ICE Europe is the ideal platform for BOBST process specialists to take visitors through the displays and samples dedicated to functional substrate excellence. The information and the samples produced in BOBST’s Competence Centers in Europe will reflect the equipment capabilities. The advanced range of BOBST technology
and process solutions for printing and laminating, including CI and inline flexo printing, and gravure printing, as well as BOBST
service and support packages, will be represented on the company’s stand. This includes vacuum web coating and metallising processes, from the very latest AluBond
breakthrough in advanced metal adhesion technology, through to the processes for the production and the conversion of AlOx clear high barrier films, to the well-established SelectMet system and DarkNight process. Information will also be available about the new K5 EXPERT. BOBST developments in the field of coating, featured on its range of ROTOCOAT, ROTOMELT and
ROTOSIL lines, include the optimisation of the pressurised doctor blade chamber used for the production of no-label-look labels, a high performance dryer and a modular coating head for hot melt applications.
GEW HALL A5 STAND 1212 GEW will be exhibiting its line of specialist UV curing systems for the coating and converting industries. The company will show conventional mercury arc UV lamps, LED, hybrid UV systems, inert gas UV curing and hybrid power supplies. Inert gas curing is an important feature in the production of silicone release liners and other
processes requiring total polymerisation at highest line speeds. The inert curing process takes place under controlled conditions in a sealed chamber and brings many benefits to the cross linking of acrylic and silicone coatings, such as faster production speeds, reduced uncured photoinitiators, and the ability to reduce ink or varnish weight. GEW’s inert atmosphere curing solution can be supplied as a complete new system or as a retrofit, and comes with an embedded precision oxygen level analyser to ensure process consistency and production efficiency. The latest advanced power supplies from GEW can run both LED and conventional mercury arc
curing technology. All-new UV curing systems with RHINO power supply are equipped, as standard, with GEW’s Embedded Service facility. This allows continuous remote monitoring of the system running condition over the Internet, enabling the manufacturer’s service engineers to detect and correct out of tolerance parameters, ensuring the system operates at peak performance at all times.
SPOOLEX GROUP HALL A6 STAND 455 On its stand, Spoolex will present two updates to its Calemard range, the DataSmart solutions and a focus on its turret winding solutions. A few months ago, Spoolex dedicated a multi-
service team to engineer a MES ready connection system, and Spoolex 4.0 was born. As a result, the company now offers multi-level DataSmart solutions for production performance analysis and production traceability. These are available as different packages adapted to each customer’s needs, from simple data collection to complete extraction, evaluations and customised reporting. Also, Calemard proposes in-line turret winders
to convert and rewind large webs of plastic films and nonwovens. Today, the company also offers in- line centre driven turret winders for narrow webs.
DELTA MODTECH HALL A6 STAND 487 Delta ModTech will feature a medical converting and cold seal pouching equipment solution at ICE Europe. The company offers solutions for manufacturing a variety of complex medical, pharmaceutical, label, security, RFID, packaging and cosmetic products. A Delta ModTech Crusader converter (below)
will be demonstrating a manufacturing solution for converting a wound care product and placing it in an individual pouch. The system will feature a variety of processes, including tight tolerance rotary die cutting, multi-layer lamination, precise part placement and cold seal pouching. This system is designed to offer precision parts while minimising waste of expensive materials. Other Delta ModTech systems may include
capabilities such as semi-rotary, full rotary and laser cutting as well as heat seal pouching. The company will have engineers on site to
discuss visitors’ specific application requirements and help develop a total solution. Delta ModTech systems are custom designed and engineered to meet application requirements, improve profitability and reduce risk.
