Adding to cutting-edge carton technology
The installation of a Baumann-Wohlenberg 115 high-speed cutter (pictured) has enabled specialist carton printer, J J Lee (Bath, UK), to increase the capacity and speed at which it can cut carton board to various required sizes. Says managing director, Paul Darvill: “We looked at a number of suppliers
before settling on the Baumann-Wohlenberg. The build quality and price of the Baumnan-Wohlenberg 115 were both exceptional.” With over 100 years of experience combined with modern machinery, JJ
Lee is an expert in the field of carton design and printing, creating packaging for its customers that is intended to make their products stand out. Specialising in packaging, among the items that can be produced by J J Lee
are cartons, blister cards and display boxes for a large range of industry sectors including food (chilled, frozen and ambient), cosmetics, gifts and household. All normal production is handled in-house, which ensures high quality and a quick turn-around for jobs, the company also works with a team of partners that can add a final touch to a product with special effects and finishes. Darvill continues: “Cutting eficiency and accuracy has
been greatly improved by the installation of the Baumann- Wohlenberg 115, as well as helping us to eliminate a bottleneck in production. Going forwards we are continuing to look at improving our machinery for better eficiency.”
TAKING THE STRAIN WITH NEW HIGH-SPEED CUTTER
Elsewhere, an increase in customer demand at John Byrne Printing that placed a strain on its cutting capabilities has been resolved with the installation of a Baumann- Wohlenberg 115 high-speed cutter. Matt Herbert, managing director of John Byrne Printing,

new Baumann-Wohlenberg 115 satisfied all of our requirements and more.” Established in 1981 and based in Poole, Dorset, James Byrne Printing has
developed a reputation as one of the leading print companies on the south coast, and prides itself on continually being at the forefront of print technology with constant re-investment in the latest equipment. This is supported by a full-time staff with experience and know-how vital in meeting the exacting requirements of customers. By offering both digital and litho printing James Byrne is capable of handling
almost any small to large volume jobs, including large format and short-run book production (a speciality), as well as mailing and fulfilment projects. “The Baumann-Wohlenberg was installed, demonstrated and in
production within an extremely short space of time,” Herbert adds. “The touch screen interface, whilst cutting edge, is also very easy to use and our operators took no time at all to get to grips with it. As the business continues to grow with the planned addition of more litho presses and folders, we will certainly be looking to Friedheim for future purchases.” The Baumann-Wohlenberg 115 high-speed cutter installed at both these
companies was supplied by UK & Ireland agent, Friedheim International.
