New software for optimising label printer workflow T

he OneVision DigiLabel soſtware solution, which simplifies production

processes and enables more throughput from a higher degree of automation, was demonstrated at the Xeikon Café Packaging Innovations 2017 at the end of March. Well-known global players of the

commercial and label printing business as well as the publishing industry rely on the expertise of German software manufacturer, OneVision, and value the benefits they receive in time savings, cost reductions and quality improvements. Presented at Xeikon Café was OneVision’s DigiLabel two- in-one solution that optimises print data and simplifies label production in digital printing. “Our main motivation to

participate at Xeikon Café was to demonstrate to attendees how they can profit from faster work processes with highly automated production, even in complex label workflows by utilising our DigiLabel software,” says Ralf Fischer,

OneVision general packaging manager. “Additionally, the event was a unique opportunity to meet a large number of industry-leading players, and to further deepen our understanding regarding the future aims and needs of our target group. With our new software DigiLabel, we are of course following the general company maxim of developing innovative solutions today for the needs of tomorrow. Those requirements will be integrated in next-generation DigiLabel releases.” With DigiLabel, label production

for digital label printing is optimised: not just prepress but the whole process, from order receipt through artwork preparation for printing, production planning, automated job transmission, to printing and stamping presses. The label printing software is a comprehensive system for production planning and simplifies the management of complex PDF workflows. From order receipt to printing, DigiLabel offers maximum transparency and reliability in all production.

DigiLabel automates the

assembly of open orders for a collect run in stamping or laser cutting configurations, and automatically sets crop marks and assigns orders to printing presses. The effects on the final bottom line are significant time and cost savings. OneVision Software is an

international provider of solutions for the printing, publishing and media industry. Founded over 20 years ago, the company has established itself as one of the world

PantoneLIVE gets new colour libraries and software for packaging applications

digitally communicating colour with the addition of six new colour libraries for gravure printing. The company also released PantoneLIVE Visualiser, a new software tool that helps graphic designers, brands and print suppliers better compare, evaluate and visualise colours across multiple substrates and printing technologies.

“PantoneLIVE was created to help share

accurate and achievable colours across a package printing supply chain,” says Adrián Fernández, vice president, PantoneLIVE, X Rite. “It now offers over 50,000 Pantone colour choices and supports 80 per cent of packaging applications. By increasing the scope of PantoneLIVE, designers and brands are able speed up their packaging design process.” PantoneLIVE includes six new libraries for

gravure printing technology ideal for flexible packaging and label applications. Two of the new libraries are designed to help brands and converters match colour on increasingly popular metallised flexible packaging and label structures. In total, it offers 28 libraries of Pantone solids and tints that are tailored to specific package printing applications and technologies, such as folding cartons, labels, flexo and paper packaging. Expanding the colour libraries gives users greater flexibility to determine which packaging material and processes will help brands and suppliers achieve the best possible results. X-Rite has also developed PantoneLIVE

Visualiser. Available immediately at no additional cost to PantoneLIVE users, Visualiser delivers an on-screen visualisation of Pantone Master colours and achievable PantoneLIVE Dependent colours. The results can be exported into print-ready PDF documents that can be shared across the supply chain to better communicate design intent.

Visualiser works with the X-Rite eXact handheld

spectrophotometer allowing users to measure the spectral colour data from existing physical materials and objectively compare multiple materials on-screen. Using the spectral data, the software will also convert local colour samples to specific PANTONE and PantoneLIVE references for precise colour communication across suppliers. When used in conjunction with calibration

tools, customers can accurately visualise the impact of printing processes, substrate and even lighting conditions on brand colours. uwww.xrite.com
