Flexo Technology Plate mounting and perfect registration
With the increasing shift to shorter print runs and the relatively low profit margins in printing, there has never been a greater need for perfect registration and minimisation of wastage as there is in today’s print industry

was designed to take the guesswork out of plate mounting and provide a user friendly, fully adjustable solution. This would take the plate out of the
operator’s hands and hold it in register, whilst allowing it to be infinitely moved in any direction and checked for accuracy throughout the mounting process to ensure absolute perfect registration is achieved for fast setup and improved profit margins. The patented design of the FLEXICO V5
allows registration to be continually checked at every stage of mounting, leaving the operator in control throughout the mounting process and instilling confidence that registration will be perfect when the cylinders are introduced to the press. Furthermore, once the initial plate has
been mounted, the FLEXICO V5 is then set to mount all subsequent plates in this exact
position, thus guaranteeing continuity of perfect registration throughout the print run. Using magnetic positioning blocks to record the position of the first plate, this timesaving feature is particularly useful for a busy producer of short run jobs where plate mounting is a time consuming, expensive and significant part of the business.
HOW IT WORKS: The FLEXICO V5 machine provides a rise and fall, rotatable, multi-adjustable table on which the plate is placed and gently held in position by a holding bar. The two pre-set cameras are moved over the register marks and when the monitors display accurate register, fine adjustment of the position of the plate in any direction can be achieved by rotating the table for 100 per cent accuracy of register before the plate is adhered to the cylinder or sleeve. For presses with pre-register systems, the cylinder or sleeve can be set in line with the auto-register centre of the cylinder. High definition auto-focus colour
cameras provide a high-resolution image and require no camera adjustment by the press operator. Together with dual LED ‘super-bright lighting’ and zoom lenses, set at 40 x magnification as standard, allows greater accuracy than the capability of the human eye.
