congatec introduces highly flexible IoT gateway Easily customizable for rapid field deployments
congatec, a leading technology company for embedded computer modules, single board computers and embedded design and manufacturing services, introduces its flexible IoT gateway. This new, highly flexible IoT gateway hardware platform is application ready and easily customizable for rapid field deployment. The congatec IoT gateway offers extreme levels of flexibility in terms of processing performance and software integration, able to host up to 8 wireless antennas that can be connected to 3 mini PCI Express slots and 6 internal USB based slots for wireless and wired connectivity modules. Customized system designs can be created upon request.
OEMs utilizing the conga IoT gateway platform benefit from a pre-configured, pre-certified IoT gateway that can
easily connect a wide range of heterogeneous sensors and systems to cloud-based services. Target uses include Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications such as smart cities, smart agriculture, connected homes and vehicles, digital signage systems and other IoT applications.
The wireless connectivity of the congatec IoT gateway is extremely scalable: 6 internal USB ports and 3 miniPCIe slots are available and able to support LTE 3GPP modems, 2x WI-FI, 2x LAN with PoE and PROFINET features, low power BlueTooth (BTLE) and 6LoWPAN. Other low power wide area networks including LORA, 3GPP, LTE-MTC, Sigfox or UNB can be supported upon customer request. This allows for maximum flexibility in supporting all major IoT connectivity requirements. The housing is equipped to mount up to 8 antennas supporting multiple wireless standards in parallel, while enhancing signal quality by utilizing antenna diversity. The small size (200x230x40mm³) metal housing is certified to IP53 protection class for outdoor applications.

Solid-state silicon photomultipliers for ultra-low
light detection First Sensor offers a new series of innovative silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs) that are designed to detect ultra-low light levels down to single photons. These detectors are optimized for near-ultraviolet or visible light detection. Key features include a low operating voltage, high gain, excellent temperature stability, and immunity to magnetic fields. Enhanced materials and semiconductor technology enable low-
noise SiPMs with reduced dark count rate, crosstalk and very low afterpulsing probability.
Typical applications of silicon photomultipliers from First Sensor include medical diagnostics, nuclear medicine and analytical instruments. Due to the immunity to external magnetic fields, SiPM detctors are ideal for medical imaging applications such as combined tomography systems using magnetic resonance tomography (MRT) and positron emission tomography (PET) or single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT).

IEEE 1588 compatible precision
oscillators family from Raltron Raltron Electronics, a frequency components manufacturer based in Miami, Fl. is announcing the introduction of an IEEE1588 compatible family of TCXOs and OCXOs.
IEEE-1588, Precision Time Protocol (PTP), is a time based protocol designed for synchronization accuracies in the microsecond range. This allows for more than an order of magnitude advantage over the popular NTP protocol, and can be implemented in applications where GPS signal is not easily available.
The PTP IEEE-1588 protocol is used in applications such as telecommunications, test and measurement, industrial automation, medical, power grid management, aerospace navigation and positioning, audio and video networks, etc.
Each of these applications have different requirements, and the Raltron Electronics line of temperature controlled (TCXO) and oven controlled (OCXO) crystal oscillators has been designed to match them. Beyond the regular parameters for selection of TCXOs and OCXOs key specifications that need to be considered when evaluating the selection of an oscillator
• Phase noise and jitter • Frequency stability over a temperature range • Package size and air flow conditions on the board
the following additional parameters are critical for IEEE 1588 applications:
• Wander (medium term stability) as defined by MTIE/TDEV masks in synchronization standards
• Short-term stability (defined by ADEV)
Raltron can provide solutions for all these applications, meeting the requirements of industry synchronization standards such as: - Telcordia GR-1244, GR-253 - ITU-T G.812/G.813 - ITU-T G.8261/G.826
