A new lease of life for JPR Electronics


CIE editor, Amy Wallington sits down with Paul Raynor, the new director of JPR Electronics, to talk about the company’s new lease of life a year after they bought the company out from former owners Jon Rhodes and George Kelly


E


stablished in 1979, JPR Electronics is an independent distributor with a global network of franchises that


provides an extensive range of products to the electronics industry. Currently a distributor for around 40 different manufacturers, the company underwent a management buyout and, at the end of September, celebrated its first year with its new owners.


Alongside his business partner Melissa Jacques, director Paul Raynor says that they have plans for the company to grow and expand further. “As we know, it’s a constant learning curve,” said Raynor. “It’s been an interesting first year”. He jokes that, “we have learnt a lot, mainly that there aren’t enough hours in the day! “But it’s been fascinating to get involved


with things like our website and SEO (search engine optimisation) and work in that area has driven up our online sales. We hadn’t really done much flag flying before the takeover because we were mostly trading to established customers. “This needed to change and we took the opportunity to harness our momentum. Proactive marketing has opened lots of doors since and we’re confident it will continue to do so. “Targets have been set. We’ve


reviewed our key products and franchises and know the products we are going to market with. Strong brands supplying quality products, coupled with some great relationships developed over the last 30 years. These will be our growth areas. We have worked closely with key manufacturers such as CamdenBoss,


Hitano Capacitors, HY Diodes, Pinrex Connectors and Salecom Switches”. These have been a stable part of the


JPR profile offering an all-round product range. Hitano’s range of Aluminium Electrolytic Capacitors is broad enough to cover the majority of requirements. With low ESR conductive polymer, high operating temperature, low leakage currents, ultra-miniature form-factors and long life types all in SMD and through- hole casings. Snap In product is also available in standard format, high temperature and low impedance. A range of slim electrolytics are also available where board space is a premium. Salecom are a major manufacturer of switch products whom JPR have represented for over 25 years. “With over 1,000 different permutations available we
