Betterclean Services

What drew you to franchising? Starting a venture with a proven system, such as a franchise, is like having a safety net. I wanted my own business, and a franchise is a lower-risk way of becoming your own boss. With Betterclean you have the systems, support and accreditations to start and grow much more quickly than starting alone.

Why did you choose Betterclean? I liked the format of the franchise model. I wanted a B2B contract-based business, but with the security and safety of a regular income as the company grows.

Sylvie Botquelen

After three-and-a-half years working as a financial controller in a London- based international business, Sylvie sought a new opportunity that would enable her to relocate to Brighton, find a better work-life balance and return to working in a small-business environment.

In what ways is your business flexible? I am free to work as hard as I desire and all the time if I want to, but on the flipside the effort results in direct rewards, as it is my own business. For example, when something comes off, such as a contract win or a client testimonial, it is a nice feeling knowing that it is my venture and my team. There’s a huge sense of pride. It is hard work, but then I am still only three years into it.

What drew you to franchising? After 30 years in teaching I began to think seriously about the concept of business ownership. Here was the opportunity to not only improve the lives of others but to build a successful future for my own family in the process.

Why did you choose Promedica24 in particular? When I heard about Promedica24, I really loved the concept. The business is well established with over 12 years’ experience in the industry and over 130 franchise partners. The culture and the values of the business along with what they were trying to achieve really resonated with me. Promedica24 stood out for me as the shining beacon of hope – here was the compassionate, personal and dignified care we all want for our loved ones. It’s what they deserve and I wanted to be a part of providing it.

In what ways is your business flexible? For me the best thing about being a franchisee is that I get all the benefits of business ownership with far less risk. I can be my own boss but also have support from experts and like-minded colleagues who are all concerned with each other’s success.

How has investing in a franchise changed your lifestyle? Has your work-

Promedica24

How has investing in a franchise changed your lifestyle? Has your work-life balance improved since you invested in Betterclean? The franchise was part of a complete lifestyle change – leaving the rat race in London and relocating to live right by the beach on the South Coast. I now have a five-minute daily commute and I walk along the beach to get to my office. It is hard work and there have been various hurdles along the way, but I’m about to go on a two-week holiday in Europe, leaving my team to run the business while I’m away.

Do you have plans to grow the business in the future? Yes, this model is all about scale, multiple ongoing contracts that spread risk and create a recurring income, with my own management team to run the business. I need quantity and it takes time to grow this – it’s a numbers game, which I always knew, I just want it to happen more quickly! The next year will be very interesting for me.

“My business is just getting started but I am looking forward to the future, which will involve taking on additional staff to manage the day-to-day operations...”

Rish Amod

After travelling the world teaching in schools along the way, Rish moved to the UK in 2003 and became of head of English at a primary school in Maidenhead. He decided to join Promedica24 after 26 years of helping young children.

life balance improved?

I enjoy sport, acting and travelling and have an enthusiasm to live life to the full. My business is just getting started but I am looking forward to the future, which will involve taking on additional staff to manage the day-to-day operations while I remain the face and brand guardian of the company. This is as much about job satisfaction and personal rewards as it is about the money for me.

Do you have plans to grow the business in the future?

In my first week in the business I signed up my first client, even though in my projections I shouldn’t have achieved this until month three. I am really looking forward to the future – I want Promedica24 to be the household name for care in Windsor and Maidenhead. I plan to hire staff to deal with the day-to-day operations which will leave me able to focus on strategy for growing my empire.

What advice would you give potential franchisees? I would recommend meeting the head office team to really get a feel for what the company is about. Also, make sure you talk to existing franchisees and research the local market before building a business plan.
