What does being a TaxAssist franchisee entail? TaxAssist Accountants provides services to small businesses, which include year-end accounts, tax returns, bookkeeping, VAT returns, payroll and cash fl ow projections. Franchisees should consider themselves as the principal of their accountancy practice, employing accountants, while they concentrate on networking, marketing and business development. Franchisees are required to operate from an offi ce or a shop initially, but must make the move to a shop within three years.

What makes TaxAssist diff erent? TaxAssist is an innovative franchise. It was established when the founder realised that smaller businesses were largely ignored by larger practices and poorly serviced by smaller ones, and that servicing this market would be ideal for a franchise network. What sort of person do you think


a TaxAssist franchise would suit? Franchisees who are not part/fully qualifi ed accountants will come from


senior management positions within the banking/fi nancial services sectors. Franchisees will need to demonstrate high levels of commercial awareness, business acumen, energy, motivation and communication skills. Like running your own business, running a franchise requires hard work and commitment. We provide the systems, the business model and the experience to run the business well, but the model also relies on you to make it work by introducing your own personality, energy and initiative.


What advice would you give to someone thinking of buying their fi rst franchise? Do your research thoroughly, speak to as many franchisees as possible and ensure you choose a franchise that you are passionate about. There is a host of information available on the British Franchise Association (bfa) website www.thebfa.org for those wishing to take their interest further.


What are your plans for the future? More growth in the UK, Ireland and Australia, as well as expansion to Canada, USA and New Zealand.
