Based in Seattle, Washington, Merrill Gardens, announced the opening of two new communities. Merrill Gardens at Ballard, located in Seattle, features 103 residences and Merrill Gardens at Woodstock in Woodstock, Georgia, offers 130 residences for independent living, assisted living, and memory care. Merrill Gardens operates 33 communities across six states.

The Arbor Company, based in Atlanta, Geor- gia, was recognized as a Dementia Capable Society Leader by Dementia Care Special- ists (DCS), a firm that assisted long-term care providers in developing memory care best practices. In selecting The Arbor Company, DCS leaders cited the company’s dedication to ongoing staff training.


Louisville, Kentucky-based Atria Senior Liv- ing started preleasing their Atria at Villages of Windsor community located in Lake Worth, Florida. The community will feature 186 independent living residences, expected for completion in summer 2017, as well as 80 as- sisted living residences and 54 memory care residences, planned for completion during fall 2017.


Belmont Village, based in Houston, Tex- as, formed a collaborative agreement with TIRR Memorial Hermann, a top hospital for rehabilitation. Under the agreement, one of Belmont Village West University’s build- ings in Houston will serve as a new location for TIRR’s cancer rehabilitation, lymphede- ma, and limb-loss patients.

Benchmark Senior Living, based in Waltham, Massachusetts, opened Benchmark Senior Living on Clapboardtree in Norwood, Mas- sachusetts in January 2017. The community includes 90 residences for assisted living and memory care.


Commonwealth Senior Living, based in Charlottesville, Virginia, is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. Founded in 2002, the company has grown to be one of the largest senior living providers in Virginia with 23 communities serving more than 1,500 residents.


Vero Beach, Florida-based Harbor Retire- ment Associates (HRA), announced that construction is set to begin on HarborChase of Wilmington, located in Wilmington, Dela- ware, with a plan to open the community’s doors in June 2018. The community will include 64 assisted living and 32 memory care residences. HRA also announced that 12 of their communities received Pinnacle Quality Insight’s 2017 Customer Experi- ence Award™ in several categories. The award recognizes outstanding senior living communities that have consistently received high ratings from residents and their families,


demonstrating a continued dedication to pro- viding best-in-class senior healthcare services.


Kindred Healthcare, based in Louisville, Kentucky, and Genesis HealthCare, based in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, have formed a clinical collaboration to improve quality, outcomes, and care transitions across the post-acute continuum. The new partner- ship will include data tracking and analysis on discharges, readmissions, length of stay, and other key quality information in order to develop evidence-based clinical protocols, quality standards, and benchmarks.


Integral Senior Living, based in Carlsbad, California, was selected to manage a prop- erty acquired by The Wardman Group. The property, renamed Amara Place at Columbia from Summers Landing Polo Road, will un- dergo a $1.4 million renovation including interior and exterior upgrades, as well as a memory care expansion from 14 to 22 resi- dences. The community is located in Colum- bia, South Carolina and is the first Integral Senior Living community in the state.
