Wessex Fleet – Wessex Fleet Management covers a wide range of tasks and tools that a business will require to effectively and cost-efficiently manage its fleet. Wessex Fleet, helps users to managing their fleet to ensure it is safe for all drivers, save the business time and money with efficient management, and keep the fleet as streamlined and slick as possible.

Wessex Fleet knows that every fleet is different and so their needs and the services they require are different as well. That is why the company works to create a bespoke fleet management policy to provide a business with a fleet management policy to suit its individual business requirements.

At the start of a business’ journey with Wessex Fleet the company will meet with the customer to go through a full fleet audit. This involves asking questions about the organisation’s needs, the current fleet and the future direction that the client wants the fleet to head in. From there it will then be able to establish what the current requirements are and create a fleet policy that suits these and helps the customer to achieve its goals for the future of its fleet.

Wessex is happy to meet clients in person or virtually in order to do this initial audit and will be there to support the user at every step of the way during the implementation and management of the policy and recommendations made.

Part of having an effective fleet policy is correctly managing the fleet administration process. If the client decides to work with Wessex Fleet, then the company can manage all these

Foretrack – Security is an important consideration for plant machinery, agricultural equipment, and other high value assets. Theft is becoming an increasing problem for businesses, not only because of higher insurance premiums, but also the disruption caused waiting for the equipment to be replaced.

Fortrack’s GPS plant tracking solution, Foretrack ASSET, can improve the security of assets, as well as help with servicing and maintenance.

The company’s alerting module notifies the client immediately when assets are in use. The client will not be inundated with e-mails and SMS messages as time schedules can make sure the being alerted only receive alert when an operation is unexpected, such as in the evenings

or at weekends.

For an extra level of security users can remotely immobilise equipment to prevent it from being started. Users can even set up scheduled actions to automatically immobilise and re-immobilise equipment at set times of the day and week.

The system detects if assets are moved without their ignition being started and can send a tow away alert.

Monitoring the running hours of plant equipment is important for scheduling servicing and maintenance to reduce unnecessary costs and ensure reliable operation. This can be difficult if assets are away from the yard for extended periods of time, or out on hire to third parties. The system can help users monitor running hours so they can ensure servicing takes place when it needs to, maximising the utilisation of assets. Users can also monitor other data such as battery voltage or other sensors and get alerted if there is a problem.

So where does this leave the fleet manager? Whether the fleet in question is large or small it leaves them in pretty much the same place.

As with most management ‘problems’ the key to the best solution comes from knowing what is required, when and to what extent it will be required, how to keep the whole thing legal, maintained and safe.

As we can see from the limited descriptions above there are numerous options available, and there are plenty more if you care to look, from the old-fashioned pen and paper option to the most highly sophisticated software solution with remote location and monitoring options.

Once again, we come back to fundamentals, if you do not really understand what you need you will not choose the right system for you. So, to maximise the potential of any fleet management system you may think you need complete the boring homework bit first. It may not be the most ‘fun’ part of your life but it will pay dividends in the end not only for your company but also for your drivers and for you the fleet manager.
