Future Water Association Awards for the best
in the Water Sector On 12th April 2018, Future Water Association, the UK’s leading business support organisation driving innovation in the Water Sector, held its annual awards lunch at the Warwickshire Golf & Country Club . Future Water Association, presented awards in four categories; Health and Safety, People, Water Dragons Innovation and the inaugural Emerging Talent!
The lunch was attended by individuals from across the water sector who came together to celebrate innovation, creative thinking, people who have made a difference in the sector, and the best of Health & Safety. This year's lunch was sponsored by three key organisations working in the water sector: WRc, Lanes Group and blu-3 (UK) Ltd.
Guest speaker, James Bellini, a self-described ‘Historian of the Future’, provided the guests with a humorous but insightful spin on the future for water. James covered the 'big picture' and the '2030 future' looking at various 'gee-whiz' futuristic examples of how things might be. He focussed on the challenge of addressing a scenario for water in 2030 that shows a 40 per cent gap between water demand and global supply and went on to cover the key areas of future water demand -- agriculture, manufacturing, rapid global urbanisation etc , and how we can develop meaningful solutions, even touching on floating islands, high rise farms and insects being the future of protein!
Paul Horton, CEO of Future Water Association, explained the importance of the awards. “People and innovation are the driving force behind today’s water industry and these awards have been established to celebrate the water sector; the successes, the achievements, the technology and the people that all help deliver a valuable resource we sometimes take for granted. We are all busy juggling the day to day tasks within our organisations and it can be easy to take excellence and best practice for granted, especially when it comes to Health and Safety and the achievements of our people. Our Water Dragons Awards recognise the ideas and innovations within the sector and provides a platform for businesses to present new products to key decision makers, opening wider markets and opportunities.
The future needs to recognise new thinking and new ideas which is why we are delighted to launch ‘Emerging Talent’ acknowledging recognising the success and achievement of people new into the
