UVA Men 4th at ACC Championship

After two rounds the University of Virginia men’s

golf team was in prime position to pick up its first ACC Championship title. The Cavs sat just one shot behind 36-hole leader Georgia Tech. But Virginia struggled in the final round, firing a 289 team total and falling back to a fourth place finish. Georgia Tech won a two-hole sudden-death playoff to take the title over Clemson. Virginia was led by senior All-American Denny McCarthy who shot 69-70-70, 7-under par, to finish tied for 7th individually. Fellow senior, Ji Soo Park finished tied for 14th with rounds of 70-70-74. Virginia, ranked 28th nationally heading into the

tournament, now must wait to find out what NCAA Regional site they will be placed in.
