Metro Bank wins more FANS, eyes profitability


significant growth in 2016 across lending, deposits and customer account numbers. It also cut pre-tax losses to £11.7 million (compared to £46.6 million in 2015) and expects to move into profit this year.

Deposits grew 56% to £8 million, while lending was up 66% year-on-year to £5.9 million. The new entrant, which floated on the London Stock Exchange last March, gained 260,000 new customer accounts (it now has 915,000). It plans to open a further 10-12 new branches this year.
