Company overview

FIS is a banking technology heavyweight, with a large number of solutions in its portfolio, including for core banking, payments, lending, treasury, wealth management, outsourcing etc.

The vendor is very acquisitive. Its standout takeovers include those of Sungard, Clear2Pay and Metavante.

On the core banking front, it owns dozens of core banking systems for the domestic market, and a smaller number of international offerings.

Originally launched in the 1970s, Systematics is its high-end retails offering, and is based on old technology. This has prevented it from reaching some shortlists but it continues to gain business from its existing users.

ACBS is one of the industry’s two main international syndicated lending systems (Misys’ LoanIQ being the other). The system is relatively old, but still sells well in its niche market. Over the years, it has broadened for more general commercial lending.
