Description


12th to 17th century, mostly 13th to 15th century. Also some Roman and Saxon finds.


Flood bank, Alderton. A former floodbank can clearly be seen, first as an earthwork and then later as a soilmark to the south of Alderton parish.

Pits cut into the saltmarsh, Ramsholt, seen on photographs from 2000. The pits may be natural and they may be recent as it is difficult to identify the same pits on earlier photographs.

FIELD SYSTEM, SETTLEMENT, TRACKWAY, ENCLOSURE


Undated


Prehistoric or Roman cropmark settlement site consisting of enclosures and trackways, Alderton parish. The site consists of three main curvilinear trackways, forming a roughly triangular area in the centre of the site. To the southern end of the site are a number of partially visible curvilinear enclosures. Inside these enclosures there are a number of pits. A possible hut circle is also visible at the south end of the site.

Scatter of Iron Age pottery and burnt flint. Anglo-Saxon Metal detector find of bronze strap end, very corroded.
