CDISC Members Empower the Changing Landscape
"MemBErship - BE a part of it." This phrase resonated with me when I saw it at the Sydney Opera House while in Australia for an ISO meeting. Our theme this month, “CDISC Members Empower the Changing Landscape by Supporting Standards that Connect Research and Patient Care,” brought to mind comments I have heard over the years from our members that the more they get involved, the more benefit they reap from CDISC. CDISC is very fortunate to now have over 350 member organizations after having started in 2000 with just 32 charter members.
Our loyal CDISC members, volunteers, alliances, collaborators and contributors are everything to CDISC; you are too numerous to name here, but you know who you are and your support is sincerely appreciated. The productive collaboration demonstrated by CDISC teams to develop CDISC standards is invaluable. CDISC standards are freely available around the world thanks to CDISC members. One does not have to be in a member organization to access them, but CDISC continues to exist and maintain the standards because of the strong support from our members and those who take advantage of our education offerings and Interchanges.
As many of you know, especially those that are a part of the CDISC Advisory Council (representatives from our Platinum membership), we are doing our best to raise the funding such that the SHARE tool can eventually be freely available, just as CDISC standards are. As such, we are having a special Membership Drive (including special discounts for Gold Members to upgrade to Platinum). To those of you who are already Platinum members, thank you sincerely for your support. For those of you who are not, please consider this year-end opportunity to join or upgrade at a reduced rate and feel free to contact CDISC Membership with any questions you may have.
This final eNewsletter of 2014 includes news about our wonderful volunteer community that stepped up to offer to help others around the world “use CDISC as the global language for research data” in the face of the Ebola crisis. Also, for your reading pleasure, we have included additional summaries from the November CDISC International Interchange, the theme of which was “Embracing A Changing Landscape: Standards to Connect Research and Patient Care,” for those of you who could not be there in person (and because there were dual tracks so no one could attend all of the sessions). Included are summaries of the PhUSE session at the Interchange, more on the Device-Safety Monitoring-
