The Myers Touch was founded by Keith and Helena Myers in 2003 with the vision to open a premium design studio that creates truly bespoke kitchen/living spaces. After working tirelessly from their family home study for the first three years, Keith and Helena opened their first design studio in Winchester in 2006, which features a range of luxury kitchen displays complemented by luxury appliances. Established for 19 years, The Myers Touch comprises a team of award- winning designers who are passionate about delivering creative design in kitchen spaces, with exceptional customer service. Most recently, The Myers Touch was awarded the prestigious Kitchen Retailer of the Year award at the 2021 kbbreview Retail & Design Awards, as well as being shortlisted in the Kitchen Showroom of the Year award category. They were also shortlisted in the 2022 Kitchen Retailer of the Year category at the 2022 kbbreview Retail & Design Awards.
The property has been highly acclaimed in the press and was shortlisted for House of the Year at the 2022 RIBA South Regional Awards. It’s a new five-bedroom, low-carbon home that has been designed to meet the needs of a wheelchair-dependent client and to create spaces that allow her to live independently. The new building is located within the orchard of the client’s previous home on the ground which was a multi-level building unsuitable for conversion. The new building is fully accessible with a lift and provides facilities for the specialist care required by the client, including a physiotherapy pool next to the kitchen space.
THE CLIENTS
The client is a full-time wheelchair user who is married and has grown-up children.
THE BRIEF
A kitchen that would work for all the family and enable our wheelchair-user client to cook and access storage, while looking lovely in an open-plan space. Her husband is a keen cook, so it also had to work for able-bodied chefs. The Myers Touch worked alongside the architect of the property,
Ayre Chamberlain Gaunt Architects, and Adam Thomas, who is an accessible kitchen design specialist to create this kitchen.
