TRAINING ROUND-UP
Training part of BOC’s ‘end-to-end service’ BOC Healthcare is a BTEC-accredited
training centre, delivering a range of courses that enable healthcare staff to comply with current codes of practice and legislative requirements. While courses can either be delivered on site or at BOC premises, the company recognises that it can be difficult to release staff to attend training, and has also developed a comprehensive range of e-learning packages that ‘provide essential but flexible managed training via the Internet’.
The company’s Medical Gas Safety Course is structured to emphasise the roles, responsibilities, and procedures, required to ensure best practice in the safe use and application of medical gases and associated equipment, and can be
tailored for nursing staff, community nurses, midwives, porters, or instructors. Cryogenic Safety Training is also available, while BOC’s Medical Engineering (MGPS) courses offer comprehensive or refresher training for APs and CPs.

Conversion courses, and BPEC WaterSafe. We also offer a wide range of City & Guilds-qualified courses, including: 17th Edition Wiring Regulations, Inspection and Testing, Portable Appliance Testing, and F-Gas. “Recognising the importance of training key staff, we have developed a range of useful courses to help multi- skill operatives, to save time and money that can be valuably spent elsewhere. Our training centres in York and Slough house modern facilities to support both practical and theory-based learning. In addition, most of our training courses can be delivered on site at the customer’s premises.”
Jigsaw, which has worked closely as Mitie’s training partner for 10 years across all aspects of its apprenticeship programme, ‘specialises in apprenticeships, providing the complete package’ – from training needs analysis through to the design, administration, delivery, management, and evaluation, of all programmes. It delivers apprenticeships in sectors including FM, catering, security, and retail.
A Mitie spokesman said: “Jigsaw has assisted us with everything to do with our apprentices, from signing them up and tutoring them, to dealing with their issues and fronting Ofsted inspections.”
