Bistro For more Sidecar at LR Sidecar at LR
Eating at Long Room used to mean buying tamales from the Tamale Guy or ordering pizza. This summer, the team added a kitchen and launched Sidecar at LR, with two concepts. By day there’s Biscuit Man, chef Zeeshan Shah, serving fluffy biscuits with goat cheese and tomato jam ($3) for breakfast and house-made naan sandwiches ($10 to $12) for lunch. By night, it’s Beard & Belly, chefs Kyle Schrage and Jim Torres, offering chili ($7), poutine ($8) and diner-style burgers with butterkäse cheese ($8 to $16). With Counter Culture coffee and an ever- changing lineup of great beers, there’s really no reason to leave. Ever. 1612 W Irving Park Rd (773- 665-4500,

Campagne Cafe Spiaggia
A year after revamping Italian stalwart Spiaggia, Tony Mantuano did the same for the laid-back café. The airy room is a lovely spot for new pastas, like thick strands of bucatini ($15) in a spicy nduja sauce. The lunch menu leans

Pizza lovers (so, er, all of us) have been eagerly awaiting the second outpost of this thin-crust spot. The Southport menu features many of the same pies as the West Town original, while new pies include

Tucked behind the Game Room in the Chicago Athletic Association, Cherry Circle Room used to be where club members refueled. Now chef Peter Coenen turns out gorgeous dishes, like shrimp

Think high-quality French bistro fare is hard to find in Chicago? That’s possibly because many residents have forgotten about this classic spot in Lincoln Square. That’s a shame, because even after 13 years, it’s still serving some of the most consistently excellent food in the city in a cozy dining room that makes you want to snuggle up and never leave. Perfectly executed classics like steak frites, lyonnaise salad and soupe à l’oignon sit next to more modern dishes like trout with beets, green beans and crème fraîche, and wild salmon with roasted cipollini onions. Drinkers are in for a treat: The cocktail program is modern and top-notch, the beer program is filled with craft favorites and the after-dinner drink list includes offerings you probably haven’t seen anywhere else. 4518 N Lincoln Ave (773-271- 6100,
