STAGE
HELLO, CHICAGO!
As the air grows crisp and the gutters get clogged with tree debris, the city’s amphitheaters are closing up shop for the season, and the biggest names in music head indoors. And by indoors, we mean “into cavernous arenas.” Over the next few months, thousands of us will cram into branded sports complexes to see today’s pop stars and yesteryear’s rockers gyrate on stage, backed by giant video screens and retina-scorching pyrotechnic displays. Snag floor tickets or squint from the nosebleeds at these must-see arena gigs—regardless, it’s gonna be a blast.
Summer festival season may be over (sob!), of the world’s best artists to hit some of our
ZEDD
What do you need for a great rave? Thousands of people (check!) and a really dark, massive room (check, check). German EDM superstar Zedd is toting his laser array and LED screens to UIC, with support from fellow bass-droppers Dillon Francis and Alex Metric. They could have just called this the Fall Awakening Music Festival. UIC Pavilion, 525 S Racine Ave (312-413-5700, uicpavilion. com/pavilion/events). Oct 29 at 7:30pm; $21.50–$48.50
THE WHO
The surviving half of the legendary British band returns to Chicago to run through its catalog once again. Pete
Townshend’s guitar windmills are a bit stiff these days, but Roger Daltrey still shakes a mean tambourine. The tour, which celebrates The Who’s 50th anniversary, is being billed as an “extended farewell,” so this could be
your last chance to see the remaining duo. United Center, 1901 W Madison St (312-455-4500, unitedcenter. com/events). Oct 15 at 7:30pm; $49.50–$154.50.

show, it would be remiss of us not to mention this opportunity to see Angus Young hobble around the Friendly Confines in a pair of shorts. AC/DC probably sells more cheap
T-shirts than records these days, but the band’s high-voltage blues riffs and juvenile wordplay still leave audiences thunderstruck. Wrigley
Field, 1060 W Addison St. Sept 15 at 7pm; sold out.
