Profile: AGC Chemicals Americas has been a division of Asahi Glass Company since 1999, but compounding has been carried out at the Exton site since 1968 when it operated as LNP Engineering Plastics. Asahi Glass Company is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of glass, electronic displays and chemical products. The latter account for 20% of group sales.


Product lines: Two types of compounds are produced at Thorndale: Fluon Melt Processable Compounds (MPCs) and Fluon Filled PTFE Compounds (FPCs). They are based on ETFE, ECTFE, FEP, MFA, PFA, PTFE, and PVDF. The compounds are used in the automotive, aerospace, chemical process, resource recovery, electronics, architectural and semiconductor markets.


Product strengths: AGC’s products provide superior chemical resistance and mechanical performance. AGC maintains a large inventory, with lead times as low as four hours. It holds several patents relating to fluoropolymers and their compounding.
