Target applications for Tinuvin 1600 include PC sheets for architectural glazing applications

PMMA laminations for window profiles and photovolta- ics; PET and PA fibres; and other extruded or blown thin-film applications requiring extended UV protection.

Masterbatch moves On the masterbatch front, A. Schulman has been focusing its antioxidants developments in three main areas: performance, appearance and processing. For example, it has been working closely with

converters to optimize antioxidant masterbatches for specific applications where materials experience high- temperature exposure and require thermal-oxidative stability. Chris Kerscher, the company’s masterbatch marketing manager, says that another area of focus is customizing stabilization packages for long-term outdoor exposure. Common applications include industrial parts, silage and other agricultural films. In terms of product appearance, the focus has been

to minimize gels and phenolic discoloration in extruded articles, including cast, blown, and oriented films and extrusion blow-moulded bottles. On the processing side, there are changing demands

created by the growing use of reprocessed material in response to economic and sustainability pressures. Schulman’s Polybatch Resolve II is formulated to improve

the processing consistency and stability of reclaimed resins. It contains an effective antioxidant system and a proprietary blend of processing aids to minimize gel formation and die build-up while improving colour stability.
