The discharge flap in the LoPro receiver is said to be up to six times wider than that on most traditional upright receivers, making it possible to achieve a dump time of less than two seconds per cycle (depending on material flow properties). Maguire says the units are designed to simplify


maintenance. All LoPro operating components are housed in a removable module that allows the receiver to remain in place for on-the-fly cleaning and maintenance. And, because access is from the side of the module rather than the more usual top, it is easier to check the system and access the filter. Manual filter cleaning is eliminated by a blow- back system at the end of each cycle. The LoPro system can be easily


installed in existing production facilities, and the units can be combined with vacuum systems from other manufacturers, says Maguire. The


current units offer a conveying


capacity of 650 kg/h over 4m or 500 kg/h over 6m. Larger versions are in development. Maguire will also introduce a new controller for its

gravimetric blender products. The 4088 controller operates seven times faster than the current 1212 controller and offers eight times the memory capactiy and 45 times finer load cell resolution. Options include choice of a keypad/digital thumbwheel or new touch- screen interface for remote operation, with the latter providing built-in software support for a conveying system for loading multiple materials and metering into a processing machine. ❙ www.maguire.com


MTI Mischtechnik will launch its Vent tec 2.0 aspira- tion systems for heating/cooling mixer combina- tions, designed to control performance indepen- dently as a function of actual process parameters. The company says this means the ability to maintain constant processing conditions irrespec- tive of changes in process and ambient conditions. Applications include the production of rigid and

soft PVC dry blends and natural fibre compounds (WPC/NFC/PPC), as well as thermal processes where Vent tec 2.0 devices dehumidify the mixture and/or reduce the volatiles content. The new generation aspirator systems are


available in various sizes for all mixing volumes and can accommodate most ATEX environments and mixer designs. Due to their autonomous control technology, they can also be retrofitted on other manufacturers’


machines.


MTI says that the system can also prevent deposit formation, as well as save time and cost.


At process temperatures exceeding 100°C even low humidity levels may interfere with the process - par- ticularly relevant for PVC containing hygroscopic stabiliser systems. Without a high-performance aspiration capability, the result can often be large deposits forming on the interior surfaces of heating mixers, cooling mixer walls and extruder dies, as well as in calibration devices. The potential consequences can include diminished mixing quality, extruder problems and fluctuations in the final product.
