Chinaplas turns on to technology
The slowdown in growth of China’s economy, and the consequent effect on it plastics consumption, seems to have had little effect on Chinaplas, the country’s major industry exhibition. Chinaplas 2016 in Shanghai was a packed event and show organiser Adsale Exhibition Ser- vices is hoping for a repeat this year for the Guangzhou version.
The Chinaplas exhibition rotates between Shanghai
and this year’s venue in Guangzhou. The number of visitors to Chinaplas 2016 hit 148,575 – a record attendance. Compared to the previous time it was held in Shanghai in 2014, the number of visitors in 2016 was up by 14%. And compared to Chinaplas 2015 in Guang- zhou, the increase was 16%. The 2016 show covered an exhibition area of over 240,000m² and included 3,335 exhibitors from 39 countries. Adsale is expecting Chinaplas 2017 in Guangzhou to set a record in terms of scale by reaching 250,000m² of exhibition area, with exhibitor numbers likely to exceed 3,300. The continuing growth of the Chinaplas show led to the decision to relocate to a new venue in Shanghai for

2018, the National Exhibition and Convention Centre (Compounding World March 2017).
