Chinaplas exhibition organiser Adsale has confirmed that the 2018 event is to relocate to the new National Exhibition and Convention Centre (NECC) in Shanghai’s Hongqiao District. The move was not unex-


pected as ongoing growth meant the 2016 event was pushing the limits of the Shanghai New International Exhibition Centre in the Pudon district; more than 16% of the total exhibition space at last year’s exhibition had to be housed in temporary struc- tures. “We really ran out of space in Shanghai New International

API and Birla target nanocellulose


American Process Inc. (API) and Aditya Birla Group’s Birla Carbon are to explore the technical and business potential of combinations of carbon black and nanocellu- lose in tyre production. Initial evaluations suggest combinations of Birla’s carbon


black and API’s BioPlus nanocellulose products can significantly lower the rolling resistance of tyres, which is a major contributor to increased fuel consumption. “With strength equivalent to


carbon fibre, nanocellulose can improve the strength,

ADCA-free compound for cables


Borealis has, together with UK-based network cable products firm Brand-Rex, developed a new polyolefin compound for production of foamed data cables that is free of azodicarbonamide (ADCA). ADCA, which is commonly used as a blowing agent for phiysically foamed data communication cables, has been classified as a “Sub- stance of Very High Concern” under the EU REACH regula-
