Schulman targets electrical

A Schulman has launched Schuladur HT GF30, which it describes as “a high perform- ing and economical thermo- plastic polyester for use in the protection layer of surface mount circuit boards”. The company claims Schuladur HT GF30 provides very good heat distortion resistance, which makes it particularly suitable for use in circuit boards that are subject to temperatures of up to 265°C during soldering. The new compound is also

said to offer good peak temperature behaviour, enabling it to compete with

PPA, LCP, PPS and other high-performance plastics. However, as it requires comparatively low mould temperatures of 90°C, water cooling systems and standard processing equipment can be

used and injection moulding cycles can be shorter. The material is said to display no blistering or pop corning during reflow solder- ing processes. ❙ www.aschulman.com
