still get stable process conditions in terms of melt viscosity,” he says. This reduction is important, Sidqi says, because

there are not many organic additives capable of withstanding processing temperatures over 300°C. Long-term heat stability in use for AddWorks TFB 117 appears unaltered. Companies producing fibres have

had no issues during heat-setting, which requires the use of temperatures of up to 200°C for as long as 15 minutes. AddWorks TFB 117 is not intended for compounds used in automotive UTH applications that require extended resistance to high temperatures, but Sidqi says the additive is expected to find application in compounds for electrical and electronic applications. “TFB 117 could definitely help to reduce processing temperatures and still have smooth processing conditions,” he says. In normal compounding operations, AddWorks TFB 117 is said to provide significantly better process stability than currently achieved with traditional additive systems, including phenolics and phosphites (Figure 5).

Molecular modification Vertellus unveiled three ZeMac copolymer master- batches for enhancing polyamide compounds at K2016. The first two, ZeMac Extend L65 and L68, are chain extenders and branching agents intended to be added during compounding to convert low relative viscosity (RV) linear PA to branched, high molecular-weight,
