There is no denying that the Apprenticeship Levy is a difficult subject to get your head around, there has been limited information available, and what is available is somewhat confusing. HIT Training have created The Apprenticeship Levy Handbook, specifically for those working within hospitality, which outlines the legislation and provides advice on how to maximise the funding. The Handbook answers all the questions that have arisen since the Government announced the scheme and will help facilities managers in charge of the hospitality teams to achieve the optimum benefits of apprenticeship programmes for both the company and its employees.


By using the Handbook and starting the preparations now, it will allow plenty of time to understand the investment each business will have to make and to plan the best way to use the funding. The funding changes provide the chance for facilities managers to re-evaluate their apprenticeship programmes, training structures and engagement strategies in the hospitality teams, something that many would otherwise not have done, to ensure they’re offering increased development opportunities for employees.

We’ve all seen headlines about the chefs’ skills shortage, and we also know that soft skills are in short supply; over 50% of Hospitality businesses have experienced an issue around recruiting because of lack of appropriate training, with 26% of those claiming they had lost business to a competitor as a direct result.


It is because of this that we believe facilities managers should look to ensure they receive maximum value from their Levy payments, which will in turn provide an unprecedented level of access to training and skills development to the workforce.”
