FM 2017 PREVIEW
In the FM Matters theatre, there will be the opportunity to hear from a number of established industry speakers, including Anne Lennox- Martin, Managing Director FMP360, Preston Gan, Head of Quality and Performance for Facilities and Estates NHS Grampian, Ian Ellison and Jill Fortune of 3edges and Lillian Antonio, Senior Ergonomist at Herman Miller.
The topics for discussion will range from social ergonomics in workplace design, to behavioural change and the impact on FM, and how collaboration brings value by aligning FM services to an organisation’s strategic goals.
Helping FMs to understand the psychology behind overcoming challenges, renowned polar explorer Mark Wood will talk about his experiences gained across over 30 major expeditions and by leading people through the planet’s extremes. He has reached the Magnetic North Pole, the Geomagnetic North Pole twice, completed solo expeditions to the Geographic North and South Poles and has led a team on an ascent of Everest.
The team from Johnson and Johnson, Sodexo and Kentish and Co, which was highly commended at 2016’s British Institute of Facilities Management Awards, will speak about how ‘marriage guidance’ style training created a safe environment to take small steps out of their comfort zone to achieve powerful results. Cyber security expert Mike Gilles will guide and educate delegates on cyberspace threat in FM and how it can impact an FM’s role and environment.

Chaired by Ian Ellison of 3edges, day two will open with Nikki Dallas, Talent FM, Alan Williams, Servicebrandglobal and Anne Lennox-Martin, FMP360 debating What are FM’s values? Liz Kentish of Kentish and Co, Preston Gan, Head of Quality and Performance, NHS Grampian, Guy Pakenham from Cordant Cleaning will argue What makes a good FM?
Claire Huffman at Morphose will join the Future Focus panel alongside other industry experts to discuss vested outsourcing and partnerships with other support functions, to market structure and business models.
KBR and Sheffield Hallam academics will discuss what the future FM service delivery will look like and how it will better support the core business in the blueprint of future FM business models.
From HR, IT and real estate to marketing, legal, finance and H&S, experts including Mike Gillespie, Advent IM, will debate where FM can extend its influence in the day’s final seminar;Who are natural FM business partner in organisations? And who provides something of a threat.
Day three will invite dialogue around how we can bring more innovation to saving energy and what are the typical routes for innovation in the Behavioural change in energy seminar with panellists including Bill Pollard, Incentive FM Group.
FM marketing specialists look at how to improve the brand of FM within the board in the show’s final seminar Marketing FM with David Emanuel, i-FM and Enigma, Ian Adams, Head of Strategic Marketing Development, Mitie, Katie King, AlinFM and Kimberly Moss, Group Head of Marketing, Servest.
Visitors will have the opportunity to pose their questions and join in the seminar discussions.

Western Business Exhibitions are also organising Facilities Scotland 2017, the annual show for all Scotland-based FMs taking place at the SECC, Glasgow, between 3rd-4th May. The event expects to welcome more than 4,500 visitors across the two days and will be offering an extensive educational programme.
