10 QUESTIONS
10 QUESTIONS WITH… CHRIS FORBES
Each month we ask a flooring industry professional the Tomorrow’s Flooring 10 Questions. This month, we chatted to Chris Forbes, Area Sales Manager, Quadrant Carpets
Q4 Q5 Q1
What was your first job? While I was still in New Zealand
my first job was at the local dairy. My first job in the UK, unsurprisingly as a New Zealander, was working behind the bar.
Q2 Q3
How did you get into the flooring industry?
I stepped in the unknown after six years working in sales for a leading washroom systems manufacturer.
What do you think the positives and negatives
of the flooring industry are? Even though the UK flooring market is very mature it is heartening to see constant innovation in the industry.
If you could hire any one person to be part of your team,
who would it be and why? MacGyver because he can get the job done with just a rubber band and a matchbox.
If you won the lottery, what would be the first
thing you’d buy? Easy – a ski holiday. I lived at the foot of a mountain in New Zealand and since leaving there 15 years ago I’ve only had one ski holiday.
Q6 Q7
If you could have any super power, what would
it be and why? I’d love to have the power to be in two places at the same time. I pride myself on being onhand when needed and in that way I could be with my customers and watching the cricket.
If you could be one person for a day, who would it be and why?
Richie McCaw on the night when New Zealand lifted The Rugby World Cup in 2011 – what an honour.
Q8
Where would you like to be a fly on the wall?
In the BBC Top Gear production offices when the Jeremy Clarkson fracas was going on.
Q10
Kevin Storey, Managing Director of Isocrete Project
Management at Flowcrete asked: What has most inspired you the most over the past six months? That we are truly seeing the end of the recession, as a result business is good and productive and we are able to introduce products like our latest addition Frequency, a beautiful and innovative carpet tile.
