TOOLS, EQUIPMENT & MACHINERY ON THE SURFACE

Specialists in surface preparation, removal and finishing, The Preparation Group introduces the company’s latest innovations, with new online videos to demonstrate the capabilities of the machines and tools.

The Preparation Group has produced a brand new series of videos demonstrating the key principles of surface preparation, removal and finishing. Shotblasters, grinders/ polishers, planers, multi-strippers and the STG450 machine are all covered with clear animations and live footage.

The principle of operation for each method remains universally the same. Understanding the capabilities of the machines and accessories, background surface properties and the material to be applied plays a key part in specifying the correct equipment and method.

The new clips are designed to aid contractors, material manufacturers, contract cleaners and architects faced with tackling a surface preparation, cleaning or maintenance project or looking to procure equipment, by showing machinery capabilities. There are ‘tours’ of key equipment, including 360° views, underside visuals to show how the surface ‘profile’ is created during the various processes and demonstrations of machines and tools in action.

The Preparation Group’s own brand equipment is manufactured at its Lincoln site and incorporates the latest advancements in technology for high performance levels. Machines are simple to operate, environmentally friendly and accessories have been developed to complete specific tasks.

Tracey Glew, Group Managing Director, said: ‘There is no better way of demonstrating our range of equipment and the preparation processes than through video, which is why we have invested time and resources to create the new material. The videos are on YouTube and located under the Methods section of our website, which also details; when to select a particular process, things

to consider and the limitations, with examples of profiles achievable.”

SHOTBLASTERS The Preparation Group’s Shotblasters are manufactured from thick manganese plate and feature uncomplicated electrics and simple, precise controls. Tuning kits are easily changed in 15 minutes and their high- impact, uniform shot pattern quickly cleans and textures.

In the correct conditions shotblasting delivers exceptional production rates, making it one of the most cost effective methods of preparation.

It is designed for use on horizontal or slightly inclined surfaces; to remove laitance on new concrete, to clean and texture concrete, asphalt stone, tiles and steel surfaces and to remove coatings and thin adhesives.

PLANERS The Preparation Group’s Planers, also referred to as scabblers or scarifiers are of a heavy duty steel design for long life and work hard. There are no complicated controls, the drum lowering lever allows precision setting to desired depth of ‘cut’.

They excel at removing materials in excess of 1mm thick including old coatings and thermoplastic lines and reduce tamped surfaces. They also etch and clean concrete and asphalt and even remove ice deposits.

Planing removes multiple layers and reduces levels more efficiently than any other method.

GRINDERS AND POLISHERS The Preparation Group’s Grinders offer precision, control and safe operation. Easy to manoeuvre, operate and maintain, extra weights can be attached for tough applications.

Grinding produces a flat, level and smooth profile and, when followed by polishing, a low maintenance surface can be achieved.

The process cleans concrete, asphalt, stone and terrazzo for application of specialist materials and removes paint, coatings, thin adhesives, latex and levelling compounds. It is also used to polish terrazzo, granite, marble, concrete and resin decorative surfaces.

STG450 The STG450 is the ultimate multi- tasking machine with interchangeable pads & plates – without the need for tools. It removes, grinds, smooths, sands, keys, cleans and polishes all types of surfaces. An essential low cost tool, it is virtually maintenance free.

Storm Diamond Pads are a key accessory for the daily, chemical free, cleaning and maintenance of hard surfaces. Increased diamond results in greater meter coverage per hour and double sided, they offer twice the value.

MULTI-STRIPPERS The Preparation Group’s Multi-stripping machines are robust with a powerful forward drive, featuring simple controls and easy change tool plates. They provide a quick and efficient solution for removing ceramic tiles, vinyls, carpets and old flooring materials along with their underlying adhesives and levelling compounds. The tempered steel blades ensure optimum cutting.

Multi-stripping is often selected when there are no other effective options and often followed by additional methods to provide a suitable background surface.
