CHICOPEE LAUNCHES SUPERIOR SHORT- TERM USE MICROFIBRE CLOTH FOR HEALTHCARE
CLEANING Chicopee has launched the Chicopee Microfibre Light, a cleaning cloth for the healthcare sector with a unique splittable 100% Microfibre structure that delivers superior cleaning performance.
Designed for short-term use, Microfibre Light removes 99.99% of microbes and the need to launder cloths, reducing the time spent by cleaning staff on non-value added tasks. Unlike traditional cloths, it also removes bacteria without chemicals.
The distinctive design and construction of the splittable Microfibre Light ensures that bacteria
TORK REFLEX MAKES HUGE PAPER SAVINGS FOR TOP
FARM ATTRACTION A leading farm attraction in the UK has dramatically reduced its consumption of blue kitchen rolls after switching to the Tork Reflex Single Sheet Centrefeed.
Cannon Hall Farm in Yorkshire previously used a generic one-ply blue centrefeed for surface wiping and hand drying in its kitchens, farm shop, restaurants and wash stations.
“With our previous product we were typically getting through one case a day on each site because people would pull out paper by the handful,” said Cannon Hall Farm Food and Beverage Development Manager, Ross Turner.
“When we trialled Tork Reflex we found the benefits to be just incredible. In most of our outlets we have reduced paper consumption from one case a day to just one case a week.”
The Tork Reflex Single Sheet Centrefeed dispenser gives out one sheet of paper at a time, unlike

traditional centrefeed systems that allow users to extract a long length of product whether they need it or not. Tests have shown that users can typically reduce their paper consumption by up to 37% when using Tork Reflex.
Besides cuttings costs, reducing consumption also brings sustainability benefits since less paper is wasted. And the fact that Tork Reflex is housed in a tightly-sealed dispenser means that the roll is hygienically protected from dirt and damp before use.
Cannon Hall Farm, on the Barnsley/ Huddersfield border, has been open to the public since 1989 and hosts around 20,000 schoolchildren a
year. Its farm shop has recently been refurbished and its new Hungry Llama indoor play area and restaurant opened in March 2015.
Tork Reflex is available in both wall- mounted and portable options, and Cannon Hall Farm currently uses the wall-mounted version in its farm shops, delis, bakeries, restaurants and wash stations.
Ross says he is very happy with the switch to Tork Reflex. “Besides the consumption control benefits, Tork Reflex is also thicker than the paper roll we previously used which means that people don’t need to take as much,” he said. “I would definitely use Tork Reflex again in other food outlets.”

are trapped in the cloth and not released onto the next surface wiped.
Known as the ‘capillary effect’, Microfibre Light’s fibres act like a magnet, removing and trapping bacteria until released. This is because they are positively charged – whilst bacteria, dirt and dust are negatively charged – consequently they are all attracted to the cloth.
One of the most challenging tasks facing healthcare cleaning professionals is keeping important areas of a facility clean and free from contamination. A recent study by the American Journal of Infection Control found that 93% of Microfibre cloths tested, that were used to clean hospital rooms after being laundered, still contained dangerous levels of bacteria like
E.Coli.
Biolab tests in the UK have also shown that traditional cloths transferred 32% of microbes collected from one
surface to the next, whilst Microfibre transferred none.
James Taylor, Director of Product Marketing at Chicopee, said: “By using Microfibre Light for short term periods, healthcare cleaning professionals can be confident that bacteria will be removed from surfaces and risks of cross contamination, that can lead to Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs), and Community Associated Infections (CAI’s), are significantly reduced.”
