NEWS The Italian Job

Northamptonshire-based Ideal Manufacturing celebrated a job well done as they completed their very own ‘Italian Job’ at the Expo Detergo in Milan at the start of October.

The family-run, independent laundry chemical manufacturer have been formulating and manufacturing bespoke chemical solutions for the professional laundry industry since 1980, and the Italian showcase, held at the Fiera Milano Exhibition Centre in Rho, Milan, saw them promote the Ideal “Periodic Table of Laundry”, as they exhibited their range of laundry chemicals outside of the UK for the very first time.

Ideal Manufacturing Managing Director, Dr Mike Kalli, and his son, Design and Marketing Director, Phillip assembled a team, entitled the “Linen Preservation Society”, made up of laundry experts John Hickman and Darren Brown, and dry cleaning trainer Hemant Zavery,

while Rapolas Bernotas also made the trip, to assist as a translator on the exhibition stand.

The Expo Detergo International is a show entirely dedicated to laundry and dry cleaning service providers, and aims to provide a comprehensive view of the textile care sector. The show had more than 20,000 visitors from across the world and Ideal were the only UK supplier exhibiting. Held every four years, Expo Detergo therefore represented an exciting opportunity for Ideal to show off their British made products to Europe and the rest of the World.

The “Linen Preservation Society” made the two-day trip down to Italy in a van loaded up with a hand-built, customised Pashley Classic 33 ‘Wash Cycle’ bike, and hundreds of laundry chemical samples to give out at the show, and Phillip Kalli said the trip was a great experience.

He said: “We had a blast! It was such a pleasure to meet so many lovely people working in the laundry industry from all around the world. It was our first ever exhibition outside of the UK and we have been absolutely delighted with the reaction. It’s genuinely inspiring to hear that the owners of a small dry cleaners have travelled the length of Italy by train just to visit your stand because they like what they have seen online, or that a laundromat, bar and cafe in Portland, Oregon, has seen something you’ve posted on Instagram and wanted to come and say ‘hi’.

“We’re certain that visitors to the show will have seen from the ‘Periodic Table of Laundry’ that we have a comprehensive knowledge of the industry we serve, and we can provide the highest quality products for all aspects of laundry, dry cleaning, stain removal, wet cleaning and carpet care.”
