Solupak has been awarded the EU Ecolable for its environmental properties and is approved by the Vegan Society as well as being tested to BS EN 1276 for

MIELE’S H2O DRYER REVOLUTIONISES COMMUNITY’S

DRYING PROCESS Processing commercial laundry has long been known for its heavy reliance on non-renewable energy sources and as a result represents a huge financial drain for businesses and communities worldwide, as well as negatively impacting the environment. The launch of Miele’s eco-friendly, virtually free to run H2O tumble dryer has therefore been welcomed with open arms worldwide.

This revolutionary H2O dryer is heated using waste heat from hot water systems. It exploits waste heat and means that their use is almost free. The water can come from solar- thermal energy, district heating, on-premise cogeneration plants and residual heat from the laundry.

The hot water is used to heat process air in a heat exchanger. As well as being robust and able to dry up to 200kg of laundry in just one day, the H2O dryer comes with programmes specially designed to take gentle care of delicate laundry items at lower process air temperatures, which ensures delicate items are not exposed to temperatures that risk damaging fibres.

Allsop & Francis were the very first Miele Professional Partner in the UK to install a set of Miele H2O dryers for a self-sufficient community of around 300 people. The community purchased the H2O dryers to replace their existing gas powered dryers as they can be powered by their existing biomass boiler using virtually free, carbon-neutral energy.

This self-sufficient community heats their water, which supplies hot water to the whole estate, via a biomass boiler. Once the hot water is passed through the dryer it is then pumped back into their hot water system to be reused.

highly effective bacterial reduction.

Klenzan Managing Director, John Bell, commented: “Solupak provides a cost effective, compact and consistent answer to high quality hygiene in catering and food establishments large and small. Many outlets struggle for space and need an easy, safe to use solution for keeping things clean. Solupak offers the perfect product that all staff can use safely and with confidence.”

Its proactive commitment to research and development has put Klenzan at the forefront of innovative, effective hygiene management and control. Well-known throughout the industry for its unprecedented levels of customer service, Klenzan works closely with its customers to provide the solution for any hygiene challenge.

Providing flexible solutions for disinfecting and sanitising, tailored to individual needs is what Klenzan does best and the Solupak range does just that, designed to maximise efficiency whilst minimising costs.

The community has its own forest, which is managed by The Forestry Commission, who fell the trees that they use and replant new ones to ensure a constant supply.

Burning biomass, such as wood pellets or logs, emits the same amount of carbon dioxide as is absorbed while the plants were growing. Therefore, biomass is classed as carbon-neutral renewable energy.

And the community has been so impressed with the machine that they have two more dryers on order.

Miele firmly believes the future is sustainability that can protect both the pocket of business owners and the environment. Senior Product Manager Carina Ghosh said: "It makes sense to opt for the H2O dryer if you already have cheap access to hot water on site. These products are an addition to our standard portfolio but I believe they will become more important in the coming years as the price of fossil fuels continues to rise."
