EDITOR’S VOICE

One of the biggest decisions that the British public have ever been faced with finally came last month as the votes were cast for the EU referendum. The resulting verdict to leave came as a huge surprise to many, and seems to have divided the nation, not just on the streets but on the backbenches as well, as the major political parties have been thrown into a state of disarray.

At this early stage, as exit strategies are still being planned and formulated, it is unclear what impact this massive decision will have on the cleaning industry, but with a large portion of our frontline cleaners being European migrants, it is sure to play some part. We will no doubt keep you up to date with all the developments as and when they occur.

4 | Tomorrow’s Cleaning July 2016

Turning away from politics for a moment, you may remember that just over a year ago, the cleaning industry was rocked by the news that James Briggs Ltd, one of the UK’s largest independent aerosol and specialty chemical manufacturers, had acquired Premiere Products in a bid to make inroads into the commercial cleaning market. Now, a year down the line, I went over to JBL’s Chadderton site to see how post-acquisition life was treating both parties. You can read all about how I got on in a special, three-page feature in this month’s issue.

Elsewhere, we’ve got some great articles across our Pressure Washers & Steam Cleaning, Damage Management and Educational & School Facilities sections from the likes of ServiceMaster, Deb, GOJO and many more.

I hope you enjoy the issue – thanks very much and happy reading!
