RECOFLOOR NAMES ITS VINYL RECYCLING RED LETTER DAYS
WINNERS Recofloor has announced the three winners of its Red Letter Days Summer Promotion, held throughout August to encourage more flooring companies to recycle their waste vinyl flooring through Altro and Polyflor’s scheme.
Congratulations to 3D Flooring Supplies, Cardiff; 3D Flooring Supplies, Taunton and PenAlyn Property Maintenance Services, St Asaph who have each won a £100 Red Letter Days Gift Card to spend on an ‘unforgettable experience’ of their choosing.
Every flooring company raising a Recofloor collection throughout August and returning a minimum of either two full bulk bags or two full blue bins qualified for the prize draw. Throughout the month, a total of more than 30 tonnes in 35 collections were sent for recycling – nearly 25% up compared to July.
Launched seven years ago by flooring manufacturers Polyflor and Altro, Recofloor has now helped to recycle more than 3,000 tonnes of waste vinyl flooring. This is equivalent to well over one million square metres of flooring and enough to cover 138 football pitches.
Recofloor’s Project Officer, Carla Eslava, said: “Our August promotion once again proved very popular and volumes were up on the previous month, increasing the amount of waste vinyl sent for recycling. Thank you to everyone who participated.”
Flooring companies can save up to 75% in disposal costs and reduce their environmental impact by recycling post-installation vinyl flooring off-cuts and uplifted vinyl flooring through Recofloor. Enhanced green credentials can also help them to gain new business.

BAL SHORTLISTED IN THREE CATEGORIES AT THE MANUFACTURER
MX AWARDS 2016 Manufacturer of building adhesives, grouts, and associated building products, Building Adhesives Ltd (BAL), has been shortlisted for The Manufacturer MX Awards 2016.
The Trentham-based company will now go head-to-head with manufacturers across the country in the Supply Chain Excellence, Sustainable Manufacturing and the Through Life Engineering category which looks for the company that is delivering high value, long-life and outstanding products with the lowest life cycle cost.
The competition has been exceptionally tough this year, with a 23% increase in the number of entries compared to last year’s programme.
Building Adhesives Ltd, which manufactures tile adhesives, grouts and other ancillary tiling and decorating products under its BAL and Dunlop brands, will now undergo the most rigorous judging process of any industry awards in the UK including a site visit in September where judges will witness the company’s
manufacturing processes in action and carefully evaluate their findings against the criteria.
The process will conclude at The Manufacturer MX Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner, at The Vox in Birmingham on 2nd November. Here, manufacturing leaders and the wider industrial community will come together to celebrate the award winners. This is the biggest annual celebration in the industry’s calendar and attracted almost 1,000 attendees in previous years.
It is the third time Building Adhesives have been shortlisted for a Manufacturing MX Award, winning the Business Development and Change Management category in 2014.
Peter Bell, Managing Director at Building Adhesives, said: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted in three categories and are looking forward to the big event.
“Being shortlisted for a third year in a row is a testament to our investment in our employees, equipment and processes to ensure that we continue to be a forward thinking and sustainable manufacturer that leads the market in our industry.”
