Over the last 35 years, Ideal Manufacturing has established itself as one of the top laundry chemical manufacturers in the UK. Here we hear more from the Northampton-based company on some recent changes to their product lines.
When it comes to making professional laundry detergents, we think we can give anyone a run for their money. This year we’re celebrating 35 years as a manufacturing supplier to the industry. But we’re not intending to rest on our laurels, and we’ve been working really hard over the last few years to dramatically improve every aspect of our laundry and textile care division.
Along with ensuring that our professional laundry products always perform, we’ve also been looking at all the other parts of our offering; with a focus on improving information and tools provided to launderers, and all aspects of design and UI.
Over the years we’ve developed and refined a complete set of professional products suitable for all aspects of laundry, dry cleaning and wet cleaning – each of them clearly identified on the Ideal Periodic Table of Laundry. It’s important that we keep improving our range, and work has already begun on an updated 2016 edition, as we continue to develop modern innovative textile care solutions.
We don’t think that design should be reserved for retail consumers, and the design of the Periodic Table of Laundry itself is very important to us. After all, it’s a representation of all the products we make in a single graphic and the best way we could think of to showcase our laundry chemical prowess. We are very proud of what we make, and we are focused on getting elements of good design into everything we produce.
We are an independent, family-owned British company with big plans, and we therefore represent formidable opposition to overseas suppliers. We have the competitive advantage of

being able to formulate to requirement, manufacture, pack and distribute all of our own products here in the UK, from our centrally based production facility in Northamptonshire. We are really proud of the technical knowledge and the practical experience that we can offer to the laundry industry in support of our range of high performance specialist laundry products and we have decided to put it to good use as part of an ongoing effort to demystify certain aspects of professional laundering. We have therefore been focused on transmitting the knowledge and experience we have gained in a clear and useful manner. In this respect, we have put lots of thought into improving the quality, content, design and presentation of all tools, resources and product information available to our laundry customers. Here are some of our newest developments:
ICALC One of the most challenging issues for the modern launderer is the ability to see material cost performance in relation to throughput and to make accurate comparisons. We recently unveiled a brand new ‘Ideal Calculator Application for Laundry Chemicals’ (ICALC) a unique web-based application that accurately projects laundry customer product usage and calculates weekly, monthly and annual costs. ICALC generates information to assist customers in making accurate stock forecasts. It also enables Ideal technical service personnel to respond quickly to laundries by providing bespoke, accurate and clear quotations to demonstrate potential savings that can be achieved. We can provide a quotation that is fast, relevant, and easy to share.
