The East London NHS Foundation Trust is making a difference to thousands of people’s lives, providing them with much-needed mental health services and support.

ELBA, (East London Business Alliance), Broadgate/BritishLand and Principle Cleaning (ELBA members and Broadgate suppliers) have joined forces to support the foundation in their commitment and have partnered to create opportunities and open doors through an employment and skills project called ‘Broadgate Connect’. London-based, Principle Cleaning has long been a supporter of Corporate Social Responsibility and this further endorses the company’s commitment.

follows close on the heels of the business’ recent acquisition of Cheltenham-based Premiere Products, whose range of products will now be manufactured in the North West alongside the Nilco range.

Commenting on the deal, Max Bass, Commercial Director of James Briggs Ltd, said: “James Briggs has enjoyed significant growth over the past two years, and Nilco has played a major part in our impressive

financial performance. This deal pays testament to the quality of the brand and we’re pleased that such a highly regarded retailer as B&Q has asked us to add to their product offering.

Without support and carefully designed interventions, candidates from disadvantaged backgrounds can often lack awareness of the work place environment, job opportunities, employer’s expectations, confidence and communication skills and as a result can experience long term unemployment.

Principle Cleaning recently opened the doors to the site of one of its clients, Lloyd’s of London, hosting three East London Foundation Trust users sourced through Broadgate Connect. This included an overview of Lloyd’s and Principle Cleaning, including

logistics, cleaning roles available and employer’s expectations. A building tour, highlighting an awareness of the environment and cleaning responsibilities was included in the morning’s activities for the candidates interested in pursuing a career in the cleaning industry. One volunteer said: “The event exceeded my expectations; I have an interest in helping people with mental health illness be introduced into the workplace.”

All candidates will go on to complete a Principle Cleaning training into work scheme, which consists of one week of employability skills training followed by a two week placement on site at Lloyd’s in cleaning positions. On successful completion, candidates will receive interviews for cleaning opportunities available across Principle Cleaning's portfolio. One participant said: “I enjoyed learning about the building and the different cleaning jobs available. I think the tips for my CV and feedback received from the mock interviews was key for me.”
