New Plate Holder Enabling 1536-well Pipetting Introduced
Integra has introduced a new plate holder enabling 1536-well pipetting on its VIAFLO 384 electronic handheld pipette.
The introduction of this new capability provides screening labs with a unique alternative to fully automated robotic liquid handling systems as the VIAFLO 384 is the only benchtop pipette on the market, which allows easy and precise pipetting into 1536 well plates.
For optimal alignment of the pipetting head with the target 1536 well plate, the new plate holder is adjustable in the y-direction. The easy to use slide function of the plate holder shifts the 1536-well plate in order to have access to all 4 quadrants with a 384-channel pipetting head. The VIAFLO 384 is fully compatible with GripTip pipette tips which provide a perfect seal every time and won’t fall off during use. To enhance 1536-well pipetting performance, Integra has developed a new 12.5 µl SHORT GripTip pipette tip. This tip was specifically designed for 1536 well pipetting and enables precise targeting of the small wells.
The VIAFLO 384 is a handheld 384-channel electronic pipette that enables fast, precise and easy transfer of 384 samples simultaneously. Uniquely the VIAFLO 384 offers all the benefits of increased sample throughput as well as lower sample and reagent use without the expense of having to invest in a robotic liquid handling system. The VIAFLO 384 has been designed to be used just like a standard handheld pipette. Therefore, no special skills or training are required to operate it. Servo assisted motor steering ensure that operating the VIAFLO 384 is both effortless and precise. The VIAFLO 384 features the company’s popular Touch Wheel™ pipette user interface enabling simple and fast programming of a wide range of pipetting modes including repeat dispense, serial dilute and mixing routines. Retsch GmbH, a world-leading supplier of lab equipment for sample homogenisation and sieve analysis, have enhanced their product range with a complete line of instruments for applications with large feed sizes and high throughput rates. The new program has been integrated into the existing product line under the name of ‘XL’ and complements it in many areas. Now Retsch offer, for example, a series of jaw crushers with feed sizes from 40 mm to 350x170 mm. The new XL models of ball mills, vibratory disc mills and sample dividers provide a substantially higher throughput than the laboratory-scale models. The Vibratory Disc Mill RS 300 XL, for example, pulverises up to 2000 ml of sample in one go. The sample divider PT 600 XL allows for representative division of up to
60 litres of bulk material. The new portfolio also includes testing equipment to determine the Bond Grinding Indices.
Retsch, who celebrated their 100th anniversary last year, are now the only supplier worldwide covering the entire size reduction field by offering a portfolio that ranges from ball mills for nano grinding to jaw crushers with a throughput of 3500 kg per hour.
