Analyser Provides Determination of C, H and S Concentrations in Organic Sample Materials
Eltra’s CHS-580 analyser for the determination of carbon, sulphur and hydrogen concentrations in organic sample materials such as fuels, oil, chemicals, soil, or cement offers unique flexibility and robustness. The instrument is equipped with a ceramic furnace with a maximum temperature of 1,550°C. It permits direct elemental analysis of solid or liquid samples without elaborate sample preparation. The typical analysis time is only 1 to 3 minutes.
While conventional combustion analysers only determine the elements carbon and sulphur, Eltra’s CHS-580 is also suitable for measuring the hydrogen content. This is a unique advantage of the analyser, particularly when analysing fuels or chemicals. The standard delivery scope of the CHS-580 includes golden infrared cells, so that aggressive reaction gases can be processed, for example for the analysis of acidulated soils.
Flexibility is guaranteed by selecting the elements to be analysed in any possible combination. The measuring range can be adapted to individual requirements by variation of the infrared cells. The CHS-580 provides reliable analysis results for element concentrations from the ppm range to 100%.
Additional benefits include: simultaneous analysis of carbon, sulphur and hydrogen possible; individual measuring ranges for C and S from the ppm range to 100%; high sample weight >250 mg; automated sample loading (option).

Precisely Controlled Heated/Stirred Experiments in Vials
Asynt’s DrySyn Heating Block range now has new options enabling scientists to conduct precisely controlled heated/stirred experiments in 3 Dram vials, 20ml Scintillation vials and 2ml HPLC sample vials. The new multi position blocks when combined with a DrySyn base unit allow up to 27 experiments to be performed in parallel.
DrySyn heating blocks enable clean, safe synthesis without the hazards or problems associated with silicon oil baths or heating mantles. With no messy oil, heat resistant handles, and the most comprehensive range of simple-to-configure reaction inserts (for round bottom flasks, pear shaped flasks, boiling tubes, NMR tubes and vials), DrySyn is the heating system of choice for thousands of labs around the world. Offering better heating rates than an oil bath there is no need to change your chemistry either.
Made of chemically resistant, anodised aluminium, the DrySyn range of heating blocks offer excellent heating performance to over 300ºC and can heat a reaction 25 percent faster than an oil bath. Providing excellent heating and stirring performance but without the inherent risks and mess of an oil bath in addition to the costs to the environment of oil disposal, DrySyn heating blocks help you create a safer, cleaner, more efficient and sustainable working environment. DrySyn heating blocks also offer a flexible, safe alternative to using heating mantles.

The Hot Plate Which Has It All
The Wiggens WH220-R is an exceptionally versatile multi-functional hot plate / stirrer. It incorporates a round glass ceramic top plate and uses infrared technology for heat generation. The glass ceramic top plate has very good heat conductivity characteristics, which results in a safer and more efficient heat transfer from the heat source to the solution. In addition, it can resist up to 700°C of thermal shocks which comes in handy when the occasional spillover meets the fully heated top plate, a situation which often leads to cracks in conventional ceramic top plates. The infrared heater works way more efficient than traditional hot plates. It heats up quicker, can reach a higher maximum temperature, and create a much more stable temperature curve than its peers.
The round top plate fits perfectly to the wildly used 500ml and 1l beakers. Most importantly, it is shaped ideally for the addition of heating blocks. Wiggens offers a great number of heating blocks for flasks of all shapes and sizes. These heating blocks are all manufactured in-house so as to provide only units of the highest quality standards and to be able to provide custom-made solutions.
In addition, specifically selected stir bars make it possible to stir multiple flasks at once and by inserting a temperature sensor directly inside the heating block, utmost precise temperature measurement is possible. To top it off, the WH220-R employs a large LCD display with individual control and monitoring of the heating and stirring processes as well as a timer function.
