Authorised Service Centre in Lanzarote

Gelcoat finishes

Whether maintaining a factory- fresh finish on a boat or trying to return an old and oxidised finish to its original lustre, working with gelcoats can sometimes be a challenge. 3M has now introduced a set of products to its Perfect-It line that are ready to tackle any tough marine project. These new waxes and compounds are formulated specifically for gelcoat surfaces and are easy to use, with increased wet times, less mess and lower VOCs. The 3M gelcoat system consists of

t has been announced that Calero Marinas’ Shipyard Services, incor- porating prestigious Lanzarote yacht harbours Puerto Calero and Marina Lanzarote, is now the region’s Nautor’s Swan Author- ised Service Centre. The collective shipyard service calls on two ample facilities with over 16.000 sq m dry standing area, three travel hoists (820, 100 and 90 tonnes) and two keel pits for fixed and retractable keels, respectively, making this the largest operation of its kind in the Canarian archipelago. “Introducing an authorised service

centre on the Canary Islands into the worldwide network of Swan Services is a very important and strategic step for Nautor’s Swan Customer Care. Many of our yachts, both larger and smaller are based in the Mediterranean waters during the Summer, but travel to the Caribbean for the Winter season,” commented Robert Holm, Nautor’s Swan Cus- tomer Care Director. “Calero Marinas’ Shipyard Services, being placed in Lanzarote, is in a very strategic position since most of our yachts ac- tually pass the Canary islands and, if needed, they can be supported in the way only Swan Authorised Service Centres can do. These all have access to factory technical support, drawings and original spare parts. Also the service centres annu- ally participate in factory training, providing them with the information and skills to perform the needed

service on a Swan yacht.” Strategically positioned as the first port in the Canary Islands, Marina Lanzarote is a city-based marina, located in the heart of the island’s traditional maritime district. Just ten nautical miles further along the coast, Puerto Calero’s established, award-winning facilities have been attracting sailors to Lanzarote for over three decades. Both marinas are popular with visiting yachts; hosting major transatlan- tic event fleets and race-training campaigns. The Calero Marinas’ team draws

on considerable expertise in marina management and services in the Canaries, where Lanzarote, in particular, enjoys a mild year- round climate and prized sailing conditions. Managing Director José Juan Calero expressed his satisfaction with Nautor’s decision: “This is very welcome recognition for our technical team. As a key offshore sailing centre, being able to offer reliable services to an expanding range of yachts is vital. We look forward to supporting Nautor’s Swan customer care programme and working with one of the most eminent names in the industry”. Calero Marinas shipyard@caleromarinas.com www.caleromarinas.com

Anti-foul record broken

The East Coast of England’s largest privately-owned marina, Suffolk Yacht Harbour, treated 39 yachts with Coppercoat in 2016 and already has many applications booked and scheduled to be carried this year. Following its success as the

UK’s busiest application centre of the high-performance multi- season anti-foul, the marina has invested in a new purpose- built advanced spray shop to support the increasing demand for Coppercoat applications. The environment-controlled facility can accommodate vessels up to 60 ft in length. Suffolk Yacht Harbour has several years’ experience in applying Coppercoat to the highest standards and the growth

in business and newly expanded facility coincides with the marina’s 50th anniversary in 2017. Joshua Major, Boat Yard Services

Director at Suffolk Yacht Harbour, said: “Coppercoat is the most popular workshop sale we make as many customers see the long-term and cost-saving benefits. We have boats outside being prepared for applications, alongside finished boats, with yachts continually being sprayed and customers can watch the entire process stage-by-stage”. He added: “I’ve seen many vessels with Coppercoat that was applied over two decades ago and are still 100% intact”. Aquarius Marine Coatings Ltd info@coppercoat.com www.coppercoat.com
