There are so many visitors and locals with fond memories of the little train which used to run alongside the estuary, all of whom regretted it was no more…but 2017 we will see a welcome return of Kingsbridge's own miniature train. Courtesy of a new engine and carriages operating on the embankment side of the estuary or “ria” as it is more accurately called.


Local businessman Steve Mammatt, formed the “Kingsbridge & District Light Railway Company” to bring the little train back to the town, supported by the many train lovers and local businesses who have sponsored the track, train and carriages, the project is now nearing its final stages. Tracks will soon start to be laid and the


last “Parkside” stations built. This year will see the service operational and, who knows, you might be its first passengers, travelling

Café Decks @ the Park


Situated in Kingsbridge Recreation Ground, with its wonderful outlook, Café Decks is the perfect place to enjoy the surroundings the park offers.


Relax and take in the scenery while enjoying a delicious sweet treat, breakfast, brunch or light lunch from the delightful open kitchen.


Choose from a selection of teas; freshly ground organic fairtrade coffee and speciality hot drinks.


The big breakfast menu is served till 12pm, including traditional, take - away, gluten free, veggie and healthy breakfasts. CREAM TEAS- Scones are baked daily on-site, with savoury, fruit and plain scones hot from the oven in the afternoon.


Café Decks also stocks deliciously creamy soft Jersey Dairy Ice-cream; Salcombe Dairy sorbets and tubs, iced fruit lollies, sundaes, banana splits, double thick milkshakes and iced fruit smoothies.


The Recreation Ground is a great spot for resting ramblers, park activists or a family day out. Grab a picnic blanket from the café, pick up a bite or refreshment and watch the kids putting. Kiddies Meals include lunch, drink, ice-cream and a round of putting so mum and dad can relax and enjoy. We are dog friendly with treats and water for our furry friends.

Anyone for Tennis?


Kingsbridge Park Community Tennis has been set up for the local community by 4 avid tennis players all keen to promote the game of tennis as a fun way to get fit and meet people.


Realising that joining a tennis club can be daunting, putting many people off, Lesley, Lisa, Richard and Verity have taken over the running of the 2 tennis courts located in the park with the aim to encourage the whole community to give tennis a go in a relaxed and friendly environment.


This community project will have activities for people new to tennis, children, teenagers, families and will provide health and wellbeing activities and disability tennis.
