LA VINYA, SPAIN STUDIO RHE

Studio RHE has completed a unique four bedroom villa, La Vinya, at the edge of the world famous PGA Catalunya golf resort. Located in the foothills of the Pyrenees in northeast Spain. Living spaces are broken into separate components and arranged along a robust stone wall. All accommodation is orientated to provide both complete privacy and carefully framed mountain views. The 80 m2

open space living area

is built into the hillside, and leads out onto a raised plateau that overlooks a solarium terrace and infinity pool, with an outdoor barbecue kitchen and in-pool daybed. A large double-sided fireplace breaks the living area into two light, open spaces with panoramic views.

The master bedroom is designed to feel like an entirely discreet space, despite standing just a few metres apart from the main residence. Modelled on a tree house, it uses floor-to-ceiling glass panels to take full advantage of the rich tree canopy surrounding it. Ref: 40716

THE ANANTARA AL, OMAN ATELIER POD

CONTEMPORARY SYDNEY BEACH HOUSE, AUSTRALIA PH+

Architects pH+ have completed a home for a private client on Sydney’s Northern Beaches that expands upon and celebrates the traditional Australian timber pitched-roof house. The extension to this family home is identified by a tall, dramatic upper floor with a mono-pitched sloping roofline. This roof is made up of a single plane that folds in on itself to form a canopy, walls and private spaces that frame views out to the garden and sky. Internally, the rooms have been reorganised into a series of linear spaces; from living, to dining, to kitchen, to external deck/barbecue area, to garden. Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass panels can be drawn back fully into the adjacent walls, eliminating any distinction between internal and external space. Ref: 17462

Perched over 2,000 metres above sea level on the curving rim of a great canyon in Jabal Al Akhdar, Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort was designed by Atelier Pod. The long inaccessible Jabal Al Akhdar, Arabic for “The Green Mountain,” is a towering massif on the Sultanate of Oman’s vast Saiq Plateau. The luxury resort is located on a 66,000 m² cliff edge plot, with a total built-up area of 24,000 m² including 115 rooms, six restaurants and lounges, a signature spa and recreation facilities.
