against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immedi- ately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.” We all know family can be the best
and the worst. The thing that can bring us the most fulfillment is our family. When families work well, it is the great- est blessing this side of heaven.
The thing that can bring us the most fulfillment is our family. When families work well, it is the greatest blessing this side of heaven.
But nobody can hurt you like fam-
ily. When it's not healthy, it's the most painful. There are not a lot of examples of
healthy families in the Bible. From Gen- esis to Revelation, families have been under atack. You may think, “If all the Bible families are crazy, then what hope does my crazy family have?” But with all the dysfunction of the
families in the Bible, God reveals the story of great redemption. Jesus is the ultimate story of redemption. Romans 8:31 "What shall we then
say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?" Joshua 24:15
“And if it seems evil
to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve,
whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the
way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.” Great families are no accident. 1. If you want your family strong, it's work. 2. If you want your family strong, it has to be a God-first family. 3. If you want a great family, you must be intentional. 4. Submission is key to a healthy home. Ephesians 5:21-25 “…submiting to
one another in the fear of God. Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. … Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her…” Ephesians 6:1-2 “Children, obey your
parents in the Lord, for this is right. ‘Honor your father and mother,’ which is the first commandment with promise:” Don't give up. That's what the world
does. Jesus is the redeemer. To redeem
means... 1. to buy back (something that has been pawned). 2. to set (a person) free by paying a ransom; (of Jesus Christ) to free (a person) from sin. 3. to compensate for or cancel out the faults of. This is Faith, Hope and Love. Be intentional.
In 2007, God
directed Bobbie and me to pack up everything we owned in a 26-foot box truck and move from Amherst, Ohio, to Naples,
Florida, to launch Destiny Church. He told us three specific things: Do not grieve the Holy Spirit in our services; Do not build a Kingdom around myself; and Release the people in their giſts. If this is the type of church God is drawing you to, we welcome you into our church family! We have a daughter, Destiny, a son, Jordan, and two grandchildren, Titus and Teegan.
