The Cheltenham Festival 2017

he Cheltenham Festival; four days of magic, madness and majesty, all played out on the breath taking backdrop of the
Cotswold Hills. T e Festival, which takes place on 14-17th March is the premier place for jump racing. Just a short train journey away from Worcester, Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Redditch, people are sure to make the commute with high hopes for that lucky streak. With the fi nest horses, jockeys, owners and trainers battling it out for the highest racing honors, this festival epitomizes everything that is great about jump racing. Make sure to join the party as it is estimated that over
260,000 people will be passing through the gates over the four day event. Here are some things to expect:
T e fi rst day of
Tuesday March 14th – Champion Day the festival
features the most
important hurdle race of the season, the Stan James Champion Hurdle. T e famous roar as the tapes rise for the fi rst race on Tuesday signals the moment when the 12 month wait is over and racing’s favourite fi xture is back.
Wednesday March 15th – Ladies Day
T e feature race on day two of the Festival is of course the brilliant two mile long Queen Mother Champion Chase. T e second day of the festival is also dubbed Ladies Day, as beautiful ambassadors grace the fi eld. T is year the ambassadors will be the radiant Roz Purcell – Team Captain for Ireland and the beautiful Miss England Elizabeth Grand – Team Captain for Great Britain.
Thursday March 16th – St. Patrick’s Thursday Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on the third day of the festival. T ere will be plenty of Guinness available, Irish music to celebrate and all the action on the course: T e Sun Bets Stayers’ Hurdle and the
