In a world which is becoming more fractured and confusing, one way of making sense of life and ourselves is through the seemingly simple act of dancing. To become more of who we are is at the heart of fi ve rhythms dance.

Five rhythms dance consists of a continuous natural creative wave which is inside the individual and all around us in life. T e fi ve rhythms are fl owing, staccato, chaos, lyrical and stillness.

Local teacher Neil Pinnock likens the dance to a wave; ‘T e wave starts to fl ow to the shore (fl owing), starts to fi nd form and shape (staccato), builds and crashes (chaos), breaks down (lyrical) and fi nally stops (stillness).’

T e freestyle nature of the dance can make it more accessible than other dance forms as Pinnock explains. ‘T ere are no moves, no right or wrong.
