flight in a Chinook helicopter. Anne Ure died after a short illness on 29th
December aged just 55. Married to Mick, she first became a Museum volunteer over 20 years ago, when they both joined the newly-formed Brooklands Museum Fire and Rescue Service. Together with the rest of our Airfield Team, she helped manage the regular light aircraft fly-ins which were held on the old runway until 2003. Since then she cheerfully assisted Mick and other Museum personnel with in-house fire training and our ever-popular Emergency Services Day – not to mention running the air-side transport bus at the Dunsfold Wings & Wheels show for more than a decade, always greeting everyone with a friendly smile.
All of these irreplaceable people will clearly be
greatly missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know them and our thoughts are with their colleagues and families.

Museum staff with photographer John Fisher visited the factory in Cardiff to check for ourselves on the progress of the restoration. The tagged elements were first shot-blasted before being swiftly protected with red oxide paint and then inspected for any damage that might require remedial work. We were pleased to see that most elements of the
