moderns were an MGB roadster and a Triumph TR4, flying the flag for the British motor industry.


Amongst all the other amazing cars that were the subject of many photographs during the course of the day was the opportunity to see a bright yellow Ferrari F12 Berlinetta beside Julian Grimwade’s vintage Bentley. A reminder that regardless of the era, there have always been vehicles that were considered the super-cars of their day.

VSCC NEW YEAR DRIVING TESTS B


rooklands might resemble a building site right now but there was still plenty of space


for the Vintage Sports-Car Club to complete its traditional Driving Tests on the last weekend in January. Damp conditions made some surfaces very slippery, particularly for the three-wheeler Morgans which slithered up the Test Hill, but that didn’t deter the 60 competitors.


The VSCC tests require competitors to follow a specific route around a series of cones and a good memory is as important as driving skills – several competitors incurred crucial time penalties for not following the prescribed course. Indeed I overheard a story at the
