T ere has been a steady increase over the past few years of people staying in Great Britain for the short trips. Traveling in cars to places like Cornwall, Wales and Scotland. It’s a great way to save a bit of money and explore this beautiful country, but the weather isn’t the only thing that can dampen your spirit. A breakdown at the side of the motorway can really cause a bump in the road, and is not a great way to start the holidays. Here are some ways to prevent it.
It’s all about thoroughly checking your car
beforehand. First, check oil and coolant levels, if you can have the cooling system checked. Speak to your local garage about a check-up they can have a look at the electric cooling fan and fan belt whilst you are there as well. If you have a convertible, make sure the roof is operational, especially if it hasn’t been used for some time.

Check all wiper blades for wear or splitting, check the windscreen washer fl uid level and check that the washer jets are adjusted correctly. Check the operation of all exterior lights to ensure they comply with any legal requirements. Check the condition of the tyres (including the spare) for correct pressures and legal tread depth. Finally, ensure all dashboard warning lights operate correctly. If not, consult your owner’s handbook or call your local dealer. Have a fun and safe road trip!
