Amongst the doom and gloom of austerity, many town and city centres have declined as places to live, work and shop. However, Worcester has managed better than most urban areas to cope with the economic downturn as was recently demonstrated by coming fi ſt h in the Great Brit- ish town centre category of the Great British high street competition. Evidence of Worcester as an attractive place for new and diverse business op- portunities can be illustrated by the opening of three new and diverse city centre additions; Rhu- barb, Shakeey and Hanbao.

Rhubarb is a family run shop selling bespoke giſt s to suit diff erent homes, occasions and personali- ties. A wide range of contemporary, shabby chic and vintage designs are available in lines such as plaques, crockery and quirky items such as egg holders for the kitchen. T e store is also currently developing a new fun line in wedding, stag and hen party accessories, which will soon be available to buy instore. Rhubarb is located in the popular Reindeer Court shopping arcade within the core of Worcester retail.
